The project of reconstructing the Grand Serail reveals an important fact
The fact that Lebanon is small by its geographic size but is great by its people.†The Lebanese are great precisely because of their determined will and ability to revive their country.
The reconstructed building is situated on a hill overlooking downtown Beirut, which itself is considered as one of the largest and most massive reconstruction projects of the end of the twentieth century. The Grand Serail
embodies the excellence of architectural achievement, it is
also an imposing landmark that symbolizes great events in our
country's history. Monuments are not only ruins that should be
preserved, they are living signposts for the achievements of
peoples and individuals in the continuity of their past,
throughout the present to contribute actively in the creation
of a bright vision of the future. Such a vision is the
motivating force for the country's future; a future that
should be as great as Lebanon's past.
The
Grand Serail symbolizes then the heritage of the past and the
message for the future.
