Pakistan’s President Pervez Musharraf strongly condemned the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri and called for a probe into the late leader’s death, after paying his condolences to the family of the slain Premier in Beirut. Accompanied by his wife and a large delegation, President Musharraf laid a wreath at the grave site of Mr. Hariri in downtown Beirut.

President Musharraf said the murder of Mr. Hariri marked the loss of a leader with a vision for Lebanon, the region, and the world. He highlighted his friendship with the murdered Prime Minister and voiced anger at his assassination, making clear that the perpetrators must be brought to justice. Pakistan’s President told reporters that United Nations resolutions should be implemented in line with the desire of the Lebanese people.

Also on Saturday, former Lebanese President Elias Hrawi visited the home of the martyred leader in Koreitm, where he offered his condolences to the family.
