Slain Prime Minister Rafic Hariri’s Beirut Decision Bloc in Parliament condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the capital city’s industrial district in Sad Bawshrieh, reiterating calls on the authorities to shoulder their responsibilities. Officials at the meeting in Koreitem, including MPs from the Wave of the Future and former Ministers Bahij Tabbara, Fouad Siniora and Samir Jissr, held the authorities responsible for the harm that is being inflicted on people and their properties.

Official stressed that they had previously warned against violence, citing a series of bombings that have rocked Beirut in the past ten days, resulting from the failure of the authorities to preserve security and stability. They urged the Prime Minister to compensate the victims.

MPs and former ministers hailed the sense of responsibility that the Lebanese have shown in the aftermath of the bombings, by solidifying national unity and demands for sovereignty, freedom, independence, and democratic practice, after defeating plots of sedition. They also praised the activists who have been holding sit-ins in Liberty Square- Martyrs Square- since the assassination of former Premier Hariri and his companions on February 14.

Officials paid tribute to the thousands of women who protested in Beirut today, rejecting violence and attempts to terrorize people, opposition leaders, media outlets and civil society. They also reaffirmed demands for revealing the truth behind the late leader’s murder, and warned against delaying or derailing legislative elections, stressing that a government should be immediately formed to oversee elections.
