Legislative elections will be held on time, starting on May 29 in Beirut, Mr. Saadeddine Hariri confirmed at a massive rally of Beirut families, in the presence of Mrs. Nazek Hariri. At the electoral gathering in Koreitem, Mr. Hariri also announced that the United Nations has appointed a German to lead an investigative team that will probe the February 14 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Hariri stressed that voters should all cast their ballots in Beirut elections in a show of allegiance to the late leader. He made clear that the slain Premier had always wanted to serve Beirut, but some in the authorities, especially the one sitting at the helm and “thinking he is staying”, derailed the murdered Prime Minister’s projects, which he vowed to implement.

Also in Koreitem, Mr. Hariri received Mrs. Sethrida Samir Geagea and a delegation of councilors from the capital led by Mr. Sami Seblini, who decorated Mr. Saadeddine with a shield of honor.
