List of Martyr Rafic Hariri
"Beirut's Elections – 29 May 2005"
Koraytem May 15, 2005
First, I would like to say a word of appreciation and loyalty, to the symbol of loyalty, patriotism and moderation, the friend and brother Dr. Ghattas Khoury.
Dr. Khoury accompanied the path of Martyr Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, and will always be on this path.
Ghattas Khoury gave deputyship and added to it. He was Rafic Hariri's voice in the opposition. He was the forefront of this house in defending national unity and national dialogue.
In the name of the family, in the name of Mrs. Nazek Hariri, the Martyr's companion, the custodian of Rafic Hariri's humanitarian legacy and the path of welfare, generosity and loyalty to Beirut and all of Lebanon, in the name of Martyr Rafic Hariri's List, and in the name of the people of Beirut, I say to the friend Dr. Ghattas Khoury: thank you, thank you, thank you. Together, we worked and together we will continue the work God's willing.
Brothers and sisters,
People of Beirut,
The fact that the lists of Beirut in the three districts bear the name of Martyr Rafic Hariri means that we are in a united list:
The list of Lebanese national unity,
The list of Beirut's Decision,
The list of Beirut's Dignity,
The list of free sovereign Arab and independent Lebanon
Rafic Hariri represents these values. He gave his life and soul for the sake of the development, prosperity and stability of Lebanon.
We, the family of Rafic Hariri who vowed loyalty to his legacy commit ourselves today to persevere in this path.
In the name of Martyr Prime Minister, and in the name of Martyrs Bassil Fuleihan, Yehya Al Arab, Talal Nasser, Mohammad Darwish, Ziad Tarraf, Omar Al Masri, Mohammad Al-Ghalayini, Mazen Al Zahabi, Abdul Hamid Ghalayini, Yamama Damen, Haytham Uthman, Alaa Asfour, Zahi Abu Rjeili, Joseph Aoun, Rima Bazzi, Rawad Haydar, Subhi Al Khodr, Abdo Bu Farah, Mahmoud Al Khalaf, Mohammad Al Mohammad, and Fahan Al Issa.
In the name of all the companions of Rafic Hariri to Heaven,
We came today to assert that:
Beirut's flags will remain high
Beirut decision will remain that of its people.
Let them know that no body can undermine this decision, and that Beirut will pursue these criminal murders and all those who stand behind them.
They will not undermine Beirut, or its decision, nor its people, or its standing as a capital of national unity and coexistence between Muslims and Christians.
They will not be able to harm Lebanon nor its sovereignty or its democratic system.
This is a vow we made to ourselves in front of God and the soul of Rafic Hariri, and we reiterate it in front of the people of Beirut and all the Lebanese.
Brothers and sisters,
The blood of Rafic Hariri will not go in vain….
The blood of Rafic Hariri will not go in vain…
You will not accept that his blood go in vain. I am here to announce in your name that his political and national project will continue. It will proceed again strongly from here, from Beirut because it is:
The true project for the revival of the state,
The true project for reform and fighting corruption,
The true project for economic salvation and the reconstruction of Lebanon.
The last few years were a witness for this reality despite the numerous hardships and obstacles which the project of Rafic Hariri faced. The coming days, will also confirm this reality. No one can distort this truth or harm it.
The terrorists will not be able to bring Rafic Hariri's project to a halt, whatever their position is. We are here to say that national unity is a great trust which Rafic Hariri left us and we will not allow anyone to squander it.
We will not allow sectarian incitement to affect Beirut's unity and that of the Lebanese.
We will not allow those who try to exploit sectarian incitement to wreck the achievements of March 14.
We are here to assert that the Taef Accord is the foundation that regulates our national project. The adherence to this accord will be the dividing line between those who want the state of accord, dialogue and coexistence and those who seek anarchy and wrecking the democratic system.
We are here to renew our fidelity to Lebanon, its identity, Arabism and sovereignty and our adherence to the national constants that protect the unity of the nation, the people and the state as it protects the resistance in the face of Israel, its occupation and continuous aggressions against our people and our land.
We are here to proclaim the continuation of this national project and to launch with you Martyr Prime Minister Rafic Hariri's List to the Parliamentary elections in Beirut.
Rafic Hariri is in the hearts of the people of Beirut, all of Beirut from Achrafieh to Saifi to Rmeil to the Port to Medawar to Mina Alhusn to Mazaraa to Tarik Al Jadidah to Zkak Al Blat to Msaitbeh to Bachoura to Dar Al Mreisseh and Ras Beirut.
Rafic Hariri is present in the national unity for which he paid in his blood a very dear price. He is present in the youth of Lebanon who gathered in Beirut places on March 14. They will not betray his pure soul and will not squander his blood whatever the challenges are.
Our house, the house of Rafic Hariri, doesn't need a certificate of patriotism from anybody.
Rafic Hariri's blood testifies to all Lebanon, its unity, prosperity and advancement despite the great hardships it passed through.
Let everybody understand that we refuse in principle the logic of tutelage from anyone and on anyone. The history and approach of the house of Rafic Hariri worked for one Lebanon; an advanced and non-sectarian Lebanon which can play its part effectively in its Arab environment and in the world.
Our history is an inseparable part of the history of Beirut. This capital which opened its heart and doors to all the Lebanese cannot renounce this history. We in Beirut never closed our doors in the face of anyone. This place, as Rafic Hariri's house, is always open for Lebanon's competences and Lebanon's men of all classes and sects.
Brothers and sisters,
This is an occasion to assert that we will stay beside our faithful allies who stood with us all over Lebanon.
The Future Movement will practice its full role in all regions; in Sidon, the South, Tripoli, Akkar, Dennieh, Meniah and all regions of the North, in Bekaa, and Mount Lebanon. We stand by Mukhtara and its leader as well as all those who held the flags of loyalty on March 14.
Future Movement will stay beside its allies in the legislative elections,
The battle of construction, economic salvation and safeguarding independence under the banner of Taef,
The battle of consolidating sovereignty after completing Syrian pullout, the battle of correcting the relations with Syria and establish these relations on the basis of brotherhood, cooperation, stability and economic and humanitarian integration.
The battle of regaining democratic system from the hands of security and intelligence system which kidnapped it for years.
The voice of Rafic Hariri is with you,
The voice of Rafic Hariri is calling you,
The voice of Rafic Hariri is addressing you,
In every district in Beirut, in every house in Beirut and in every family in Beirut.
The voice of Rafic Hariri call you to gather around the cause he paid his blood for,
To defend the dignity of Lebanon, the dignity of Beirut,
To consider May 29 the day of national crucial decision,
The day to safeguard Beirut's decision.
May 29 will not only be a day of election.
It is the day of protecting Rafic Hariri's path,
Rafic Hariri's blood,
Lebanon's dignity,
Beirut's identity and decision.
Tomorrow they will tell you: the battle is settled.
Tomorrow they will tell you: the battle is over and your vote will not make any difference.
Your vote makes a difference.
Because each vote of your is a vote against the murderers and the criminals,
Against those who spilled Rafic Hariri's blood, tried to rip Beirut apart and enslave Lebanon.
Brothers and sisters,
We are a people who don't open fire.
But we aim our votes at their chests,
We will aim the ballots to their heads,
May 29 will be a day of great judgment,
A day of victory for the list of Martyr Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, by your votes and God's will.
Long live Beirut, long live Lebanon.
