A delegation representing the French-Lebanese Friendship Committee in the French Senate reaffirmed France’s support for Lebanese sovereignty and independence and described Lebanon as a regional and international model for coexistence between different religions and sects. The group which met head of the Future bloc in Parliament MP Saad Rafic Hariri paid tribute to assassinated Prime Minister Rafic Hariri.

After meeting MP Hariri in Koreitem, leader of the delegation, which represented various parties in the Senate, Mr. Adrien Gouteyron, told reporters the Senators support Lebanese independence, and that while they may have divergent views inside the French Senate, when it comes to Lebanon they all speak “in one voice.” They stressed that their current visit to Lebanon and to MP Hariri, at this “historic” time, aimed at voicing long-standing French backing of Lebanon, and solid bilateral relations.
