A delegation representing the Popular Bloc in Parliament, led by MP Elias Skaff, said Lebanese should work together to build the country. They supported internal dialogue over calls on President Emile Lahoud to step down. After meeting head of the Future bloc in Parliament MP Saad Rafic Hariri, delegates paid tribute to assassinated Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, who was killed in a car bomb attack in Beirut last year.

MP Assem Araji, who spoke on behalf of MP Skaff, MP Hassan Yacoub, MP Kameel al-Maalouf and MP George Kassarji, told reporters in Koreitem that despite previous differences of opinion with MP Hariri, there was agreement at the meeting over most issues and highlighted the need for cooperation among the Lebanese. Asked about mounting calls for President Emile Lahoud’s resignation, the legislator said the matter should be discussed by all factions in the framework of House Speaker Nabih Berri’s initiative for national dialogue.

Also in Koreitem, MP Hariri received head of the Elderly and Orphans Association in Achrafieh Mrs. Kaffa Khairallah and the Secretary General of the Association Mrs. Lilian Awad. At the meeting there was agreement to pursue late Premier Hariri’s contacts with the Association. Later, head of the Future bloc held talks with the dean of the Islamic Orphanage Center Mr. Farouk Jabr.
