Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri was awarded the Maronite General Council’s golden medal by a delegation led by former Minister Wadih el Khazen who said Mr. Hariri will press ahead with his diligent efforts to create a government without excluding any of the parliamentary blocs, in line with the size of their constituencies.
Speaking to reporters after decorating Mr. Hariri with the award and inviting him to attend the Council’s annual dinner later this month, the former Minister told reporters that the Prime Minister-designate has a clear vision and is cooperating with President Michel Sleiman to achieve national equilibrium and political stability that will end internal discord and provide security and socio-economic protection in the face of any Israeli activities, citing threats, border violations and provocation. He stressed that Mr. Hariri continues to have confidence in the ability of political leaders to reach agreement and avoid a political vacum which invites foreign intervention.
Earlier, the Prime Minister met Sweden’s Speaker of Parliament Per Westerberg at his residence in downtown Beirut.
